Italian Rotary Trumpet Restoration

This trumpet is a family heirloom belonging to a friend of mine. The bell is engraved with the name Abbatte.

It was truly in a sorry state. Someone had added a couple of extra braces made out of electrical wire and used a considerable amount of solder.

One of these extra braces made it impossible to move the 2nd valve slide. When the brace was removed, the slide fell off with the outer tubes and all.

One crook was replaced and all the joints were cleaned, removing a great deal of solder.

The original mounting holes for the valve levers had been stripped making it necessary to manufacture a couple of brass screws with larger shanks but with heads the same as the originals to maintain an authentic look.

All original parts were saved in case there is more than sentimental value to this instrument.
